DAY OF PRAYER - BAHRAIN
(Report from Anup Patro, BSG Representative, Bahrain)

Two thousand years ago, Mary Magdalene was the first one to tell the whole world
the good news that Jesus Christ had risen from the dead. Two hundred years ago
another Mary, Mary Jones inspired Christian leaders of the time to start the Bible
Society movement to share the gospel with the whole world. Now, today there are
thousands of women who are praying and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in
every part of the world.
Women have played a very important role in the ministry of the Bible Society
movement. To honour them, the UBS Day of prayer held on 10 May 2004 at the St
Christopher's Cathedral, Bahrain was lead entirely by women.
Women's fellowships from different churches took leading roles in organising
and conducting the meeting. The message was given by Mrs Karan Nazareth from the
Good News Church. She challenged the churches to spend more time in prayer and
become involved in the ministry of the Bible Society. The Marthoma Ladies group
prayed for the financing of Bible ministry, The women's fellowship of the National
Evangelical Church, prayed for Bible distribution and the St Christopher's Cathedral
group prayed for Bible translations. The closing prayer and benediction was given
by the Fr Abraham Joseph of the St Mary's Orthodox church.
I feel this was a good opportunity to show the slides and share the activities
of the Bible ministry in the Gulf. Many Christians were motivated and mobilised
directly or indirectly to involve in our ministry. Some church leaders assured
me that their church will pray more for Bible ministry. |
