Arabian Peninsula. A causeway links the largest island (also known as Bahrain)
to mainland Saudi Arabia. The islands are flat and hot, mainly sand covered limestone,
with generally poor and infertile soil. The total population is 594,000, out of
which 227,000 are expatriates (38.22% of the total population). |
