The United Arab Emirates is a confederation of seven kingdoms, or emirates, on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. They are linked by their dependence on oil revenues, which have brought them from poverty to prosperity in only 25 years.
The total population is 2,666,000, out of which 2,006,000 are expatriates (75.24% of the total population).
